As of this check, Amazon.com is taking preorders for the GTA 6 PS5 Standard edition. We did not verify an Xbox listing or an Ultimate listing on Amazon.com. The PlayStation Store and Xbox Store both show active digital preorders, covered further down this page. GameStop, Best Buy, Walmart and Target were not re-checked on October 3, 2026, so this page makes no claim either way: check those retailers' own sites directly.
Official GTA 6 prices: $79.99 Standard and $99.99 Ultimate
Rockstar announced the prices on June 24, 2026: $79.99 for the Standard edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate edition. The French PlayStation Store and Xbox Store list 79.99 EUR and 99.99 EUR. What the boxed copy actually contains, and why it matters
A code, not a disc
The retail box for GTA 6 contains a download code, not a disc. Rockstar's June 24, 2026 announcement describes a box "containing a download code", and the Amazon listings say the same. You install the full game from the code regardless of which retailer you buy from.
Boxes arrive November 12, seven days before launch
Rockstar says the boxed version is available starting November 12, 2026, to support pre-loading, the same date digital pre-loading opens. Amazon.com's PS5 listing shows November 12 as its release date. Getting the box a week early does not unlock the game early: it gives you time to redeem the code and download before the November 19 release.
You will still download the full game
Because the box holds a code rather than game data, a boxed copy and a fully digital purchase end up in the same place: a complete download onto your console's storage. Budget for that download regardless of which format you buy.
The Vintage Vice City preorder bonus and its November 20 deadline
Rockstar says all GTA VI pre-orders and purchases before November 20, 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack: a '55 Vapid Stanier with a garage near Ocean Beach, vintage outfits for Jason and Lucia, and a weapon pattern inspired by Tommy Vercetti.
