GTA 6 releases on November 19, 2026, and the number everyone actually wants is the local one: what time it happens on your own clock. Rockstar has not published a time. What we have are press reports (GinjFo, Gameblog) on the PlayStation Store listings, which unlock at midnight local time, territory by territory. This page sets out what is known and what is not, rather than inventing a number nobody has published.

The short answer: local midnight, per the PS Store listings

According to those reports, the French listing shows a timestamp equal to midnight in Paris on November 19, and the US East Coast and Canada unlock at midnight Eastern. This comes from store listings, not from Rockstar, and we found no timing information for the Xbox Store: treat it as the likely outcome, not a promise.

What the PlayStation Store timestamp actually says

The published timestamp and how to read it

The French PlayStation Store's GTA 6 listing carries the date November 18, 2026, because the timestamp is in UTC: GinjFo (September 8, 2026) reported it as . Paris sits at UTC+1 in November, so that lands on exactly midnight on November 19. It is one storefront's way of encoding "midnight, here."

What the press found for other territories

The same reports describe 15 unlock waves over about 19 hours: New Zealand first (November 18, 11:00 UTC), France at midnight (23:00 UTC on November 18), then the US East Coast and Canada at midnight Eastern (05:00 UTC on November 19). We have not read the listings for Central, Mountain or Pacific time, Alaska, Hawaii or the UK. Your own store listing is the source to trust.

ET, CT, MT and PT: what we know

By November 19, 2026, the United States will already be back on standard time: daylight saving time ends on November 1, 2026. Eastern is reported at midnight. For Central, Mountain and Pacific time we have no listing data: if the store unlocks at local midnight there too, it would be midnight on your own clock; if it unlocks at the same moment as Eastern, it would come earlier in the evening. Neither is confirmed. If your own store listing shows something different close to launch, trust the listing.

How store unlocks actually work: local midnight vs. one global instant

A digital storefront can fire everyone's copy at one UTC instant, or fire each territory at its own local midnight. The reported PS Store data points to the second model: the French timestamp (23:00 UTC) is midnight in Paris, and the reported US East Coast and Canada time (05:00 UTC the next day) is midnight Eastern. Those are different UTC instants. Neither Rockstar nor the platform holders have confirmed this. If it changes for GTA 6, this page will say so.

Preloaded but locked: what happens right at unlock

If you preloaded, the console has the files already, and the game should be playable once your store unlocks it. If you did not preload, the full download begins at unlock. Rockstar has published no install size. Preloading opens on November 12, 2026 for digital pre-orders, and the boxed version, which contains a download code, is available from the same date.

The last hour before launch: a short checklist

If the game will not start

Confirm all available updates are installed, wait a few minutes, and try again. Rockstar has not said whether single-player will need an online connection: check your store listing before launch.

The PS5 listing on Instant Gaming shows 62.99 EUR, but pre-orders there are unavailable as of October 3, 2026; it offers an e-mail alert for when they open.

FAQ: Your Questions About the GTA 6 Launch Time

What time exactly does GTA 6 unlock?

At midnight local time, according to press reports that read the PlayStation Store listings: the store unlocks territory by territory. The French listing shows a timestamp equal to midnight in Paris on November 19, and the reported time for the US East Coast and Canada is midnight Eastern. Rockstar has not published a time, and we have no listing data for Central, Mountain or Pacific time, so an exact CT, MT or PT time is not confirmed.

Why does the store show November 18 instead of November 19?

Store timestamps are in UTC. The French PlayStation Store listing carries the date November 18, 2026, which GinjFo reported as 23:00 UTC: exactly midnight on November 19 in Paris, since France is at UTC+1 in November. The date printed depends on which time zone is doing the reading, not on when the game unlocks for you.

Is it the same moment worldwide, or a separate midnight per time zone?

A separate midnight per territory, according to press reports on the PlayStation Store listings (GinjFo, Gameblog): unlocks run at local midnight in 15 waves over about 19 hours, New Zealand first, then France, then the US East Coast and Canada. Rockstar has not published a time, and we found no timing information for the Xbox Store. Check your own regional store listing close to launch.

Do I need to be awake at midnight to play?

Not if you preloaded. Preloading opens November 12, 2026 for digital pre-orders, and the game should be playable once your store unlocks it. Without preloading, the full download starts at unlock. Rockstar has published no install size.

What if the game will not start at the announced time?

Confirm all available updates are installed, wait a few minutes, and relaunch. Rockstar has not said whether single-player will need an online connection: check your store listing before launch.

Every store shows the same date. Only your own zone knows the exact minute. Check your listing again the week of the 19th.
