PS5 Standard or PS5 Pro for GTA 6?
GTA 6 is announced for PS5, and its PlayStation Store listing carries a PS5 Pro label ("Optimisé pour la PS5 Pro" on the French listing), with no resolution, frame rate or mode published. Console prices in Europe since April 2, 2026:
- PS5: 649.99 EUR with disc drive, 599.99 EUR Digital Edition
- PS5 Pro: 899.99 EUR
Source: PlayStation Blog, March 27, 2026 (in effect April 2, 2026); check with the retailer.
Nothing published so far shows what the Pro changes for GTA 6. Until Sony or Rockstar show Pro footage, nothing justifies buying a console for that label alone. Our GTA 6 on PS5 Pro article covers what is known.
What GTA 6 does on PS5
Rockstar has published no tech sheet. Here is what is documented as of October 3, 2026, with sources:
- DualSense: the PlayStation Store listing says vibration and trigger effect are supported
- Rendering: according to Digital Foundry's independent analysis (August 28, 2026), the Extended Look, captured on a base PS5, runs at 1440p upscaled to 4K, at 30 frames per second
- Ray tracing: Digital Foundry points to ray-traced reflections, heavily ray-traced global illumination, and shadows that are mostly shadow maps
- Storage: no official install size is published. The PS5 takes an M.2 SSD expansion if your storage is already full before pre-loading opens on November 12

GTA Online on PS5: PlayStation Plus required?
Rockstar describes GTA 6 as "a single player experience". No online mode has been announced, and GTA Online is not confirmed for GTA 6.
With no online mode announced, the question of a PlayStation Plus subscription for online play does not arise today.
Standard vs. Ultimate: which to pick?
The game comes in two editions, Standard and Ultimate, with no collector's edition of the game. On September 24, 2026, Rockstar did announce a collector's box, "The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection": a figurine, sunglasses, a cap, a bag and other items, game sold separately. It is available for pre-order while supplies last. Our complete article breaks down each edition, pricing and content: GTA 6: release date, price, platforms and editions.
Standard gives you the whole game. Ultimate adds vehicles, weapons, outfits and stores woven into Jason and Lucia's story.
Digital pre-order on the PlayStation Store: pre-load opens November 12, release is November 19. The game unlocks at midnight local time, according to the PS Store listings.
The release date has not moved since pre-orders opened: November 19. What is stuck is the box, a download code with no disc, unavailable on Amazon.fr as of October 3, 2026, with no restock date. Digital is open for pre-order on the PlayStation Store. If you already know you are playing on day one, that is the channel that works today.
On Amazon.fr the boxed edition is unavailable as of October 3, 2026: no order can be placed while the listing stays closed.
